Insurance Plans

There are several plans offered from Ambetter by Health Net Insurance. Ambetter Essential Care is a plan that covers most of the essential healthcare needs of an individual. Usually, the out-of-pocket costs are higher with this plan but with the monthly premiums being less. It is important to note there may still be copays, deductibles, and/or coinsurance for substance abuse treatment under this plan. The second plan option is the Ambetter Balanced Care plan. This is the best value plan that provides the most balance between monthly premium payments and out-of-pocket costs. Substance abuse may be covered under this plan but like the previous plan, there could be coinsurance, deductibles, and/or copays. The third plan option is the Ambetter Secure Care plan. All your healthcare needs are met with the Secure Care. Under this plan you can expect higher monthly premium payments, however, the out-of-pocket costs will be lower. This plan follows the previous stipulations involving the possible deductibles, copays, and/or coinsurance. This is a lot of information and picking an insurance plan can be tedious. However, you can have a discussion with an insurance representative in order to make the process easier. They can go through each plan and help you figure out which one is best for you and your situation. Always check the website for specifics about substance abuse treatment coverage.

Insurance plans fall under two categories. There are HMO and PPO plans. Each plan benefits each person’s individual situation and leads. The Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) has its clients seek treatment through their network of providers and in turn even though the clients now have a limited choice they have the incentive of a small premium each month. In turn, the Preferred Provider Organization plan has higher monthly premiums but they give their clients the freedom to seek treatment out of the network with no referrals required.

Americans who are challenged economically speaking can seek health coverage through Medicaid. It is a system in place that is federally funded and administered throughout all 52 states. Substance abuse treatment for drug or alcohol dependency is covered under Arizona Medicaid. Residential and outpatient services are both covered under Medicaid. It is important to check that substance abuse treatment is covered under the plan you chose. Therefore, go onto your insurance company’s website to confirm that the treatment you want is covered under your insurance plan.

Medicaid and Medicare Coverage

Prior to treatment, it is important to consider if any other coverage applies to you or a loved one. This includes coverage such as Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older. Your doctor or medical care provider is the person to go to with any questions about what Medicare covers. However, most major cities will have several treatment centers that accept Medicare. Although there is no specific category of coverage that applies to substance abuse, coverage is available when treatment is reasonable and necessary. The coverage applies to both inpatient and outpatient treatment.
